"Not now, Slinky. I've got some bad news."

IMPORTANT UPDATE!
DRAMA ALERT, CODE ORANGE!

Through proven interrogation techniques, I've discovered that one of our closest and most trusted allies, have important intelligence that they have yet to disclose.

QUOTE "I guess maybe I qualify as an enemy combatant, since I have the information, but am not disclosing. Although I will stress that I have not participated in anyway, nor do I know where Woody is being held."

This is particularly troubling to me, as this ally was solidly in the circle of trust. ("You" know who "you" are.)

We cannot completely sever ties as they are still an important source of information. However, I am not sure I can trust them 100% any longer. Trust is an interesting thing. It can take years to build, but only seconds to destroy. Hopefully they can do what it takes to regain our trust. They know what they have to do.

We are extending the peace by supporting the rise of democracy, and the hope and progress that democracy brings, as the alternative to hatred and terror. In democratic and successful societies, men and women do not swear allegiance to malcontents and murderers; they turn their hearts and labor to building better lives. And democratic governments do not shelter terrorist camps or attack their neighbors. When justice and democracy advance, so does the hope of lasting peace.

Faithfully yours,
L

As one can expect with this administration, this commentary is full of half-truths and misdirection. Said "enemy combatant" was never in the circle of 100% trust - as was stated in private talks this morning.

When questioned, the combatant answered all questions truthfully. It is the contention of the combatant that the administration was, and remains, unwilling to ask the question that will fully expose the plot, thereby ending the conflict.

Yes, "secret" talks were held this morning. In these meetings there was talk of "two circles of trust." During these talks, which circle you were in was never clearly defined. I'm sorry you felt you were outside the "inner circle". But in our eyes, you had always been in the "inner circle", until....

It's not too late to come clean.

I'm not sure I willing to go as far as putting them in the "Axis of Evil", but they aren't in the "Coalition of the Woody" either (as they hoped to be).

There were talks about making them a charter member, until said revelations.

This is a long fight. There will be many opportunities and many ways to participate.

Either you are with us or with the terrorists.

Again, "miscommunication". I was clearly told that I had not made it into the "inner circle" - there was an accompanying definitive hand gesture.

As I said, you know you don't really want me to come clean.

Thomas Jefferson once said: 'Of course the people don't want war. But the people can be brought to the bidding of their leader. All you have to do is tell them they're being attacked and denounce the pacifists for somehow a lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.' I think that was Jefferson. Oh wait. That was Hermann Goering. Shoot." --Jon Stewart

In this complicated world, it is not un-expected that two strong willed countries occasionally find themselves at impasse. Hopefully though continued negotiations, this matter can be resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

Unfortunately, this distraction takes the focus off where it needs to be, on the toy-nappers. We must all remember that they are the true enemy. We will continue to seek out all those who wish harm to freedom loving people, and bring them to justice.
